IMG_20210914_170743366.jpg

This combined two day course - in association with co-host ‘Meticulous: Creative Upholstery Courses & Restoration’ - offers the opportunity to make and upholster your own footstool from start to finish.

The course will have an emphasis on traditional methods of both construction and upholstery, to give a unique experience in two very different crafts.

You will spend the first day making the solid timber stool at the workbench under the tuition of Steve of Dovetail Woodworking, using both machine and hand tools.

Day two will see you in the experienced hands of Katie, upholstering the stool using a combination of traditional and modern methods and materials.

Both day’s tuition will be at the Acava Studios, Spode Works, Stoke.

Meticulous: Creative Upholstery Courses and Restoration: Katie is an experienced furniture restorer, upholsterer and teacher with 8 years experience teaching craft skills. After completing the City & Guilds Diplomas in Traditional Furniture Making and Upholstery she qualified as a City & Guilds Trainer/Assessor and taught at a City & Guilds training centre in Bristol. She is a qualified Design and Technology teacher with a degree in the History of Art and Design.

Thanks to Steve from Dovetail Woodworking and Katie from, Meticulous restoration for the 2 day course to make a footstool. They were both fantastic teachers, friendly and informative. I cannot tell you how happy I was with what I was able to achieve.
